14. Piazza di Spagna and Trinitá dei Monti:
While in Rome, you cannot miss the Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Square) and the famous 135 Spanish Steps that lead up to Trinità dei Monti, a late Renaissance church on the top of the hill dedicated to the Trinity. Today these steps are a wonderful venue for famous fashion designers to parade their haute couture. In the center of the square is the “Barcaccia” (boat), a work commissioned by Pope Urban VII of Pietro Bernini and his son Gian Lorenzo, who later became more famous than his father. On hot summer days in Rome, tourists enjoy drinking and splashing themselves with the safe clean water offered by this fountain.
