St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort, in Montfort-sur-Meu (France)
The priest St. Louis Marie Grignion, born on January 31, 1673, in the town of Montfort (west of Rennes), is the founder of two religious congregations: the Company of Mary and the Daughters of Wisdom. He didn’t stay more than a few months at the house where he was born; rather, he spent his childhood in Iffendic, a few miles from there. Nonetheless, the house where he was born contains objects from his life and is visited year-round. It houses items that marked his life, such as his baptismal garment, the manuscript of Treatise on True Devotion to Mary (a book that inspired St. John Paul II), and sculptures the saint had fashioned.
