I paid a visit to St. Patrick's in Dundalk, which is still in possession of this 400-year-old chalice dating from the time of St. Oliver. Did St. Oliver use this to say Mass? Sacristan Patsy Bailey told me, "They were made to unscrew into three parts, making it easy to disguise in a bag from prying eyes." After photographing it, I rested it gently on the crown of my son's head and prayed a prayer before returning such a great piece of history.
