The National Marian Shrine in Mellieha
Our Lady of Mellieħa has a long history shrouded in mystery and tradition. One of the oldest traditions is that St Paul’s companion, the Evangelist Luke had painted a fresco during his sojourn in Malta way back in AD 60. In this sanctuary many ex voto donations witness the many graces granted by the the Hodegetria Virgin (She who shows the Way – the Son as the path to Salvation). The Mellieha Shrine is one of twenty other National Marian Shrines which form the European Marian Network | Courtesy of the Archdiocese of Malta
