The Cathedral of Our Lady of Strasbourg: Catalogued as an historical monument in 1987, the astronomical clock of Strasbourg is a true Renaissance masterpiece. Built with the collaboration of mathematicians, clockmakers, and a painter, this astronomical clock indicates the movements of the planets, and the days, months, and years, as well as recurring feasts and eclipses. The mechanism was restored and improved in the 19th century by Jean-Baptiste Schwilgué, and some elements were added. What most attracts the attention of visitors are the figures that move according to the hours of the day. You can see an angel who rings a bell, another who turns an hourglass, the Apostles who process before Christ, other figures that pass in front of the personification of death, and a rooster that spreads its wings.
