The Cathedral of Saint Peter of Beauvais: This Byzantine-style clock, built between 1865 and 1868, is the work of a clockmaker from Beauvais, Auguste-Lucien Vérité. Made up of 90,000 parts, it has 52 faces and 68 static and moving figures. The figures on the upper part represent the Universal Judgment. Every hour, a rooster crows and beats its wings, and Christ makes a sign to two angels for them to play their trumpets. Then, the mechanism makes an angel appear, who carries a virtuous man up to heaven, along with a devil who takes a condemned soul to hell.
