SAINTE AGATHA: Originally from Catania (Italy), Agatha wanted to devote her life to Christ and remain a virgin. The Roman prefect of Sicily, who was attracted to her, tried to seduce her. She resisted his advances, so the prefect sent her to a brothel. Luckily, she managed to stay a virgin. She ended up being tortured: she was tied head down to a column, and her breasts were torn off with a pincer. On the following night, Saint Peter visited her in her prison and healed her. She ended up being dragged on hot coals until she died.
