SAINT BLANDINE: A young slave, Blandine was martyred with other Christian companions in Lyon in the second century. Blandine never denied her faith. She was strung up by her arms and handed over to the beasts, but the lions refused to devour her. She was then flogged, placed on a hot grill, and delivered in a net to a bull who threw her in the air with its horns.
