Brother Sun, Sister Moon (1972)
Coming out in the flower-power days of 1972, Brother Sun, Sister Moon, directed by Franco Zeffirelli, portrays St. Francis of Assisi as the forefather of the hippie protest against war and consumerism. In spite of its dated feel, the movie still inspires as it captures the dedication and love of God of the young St. Francis, who cast off all of his possessions to pursue a life of holiness.
