St. John, celebrated on August 4
The 19th-century patron saint of parish priests, John Vianney, was known for his skills as a confessor. Thousands flocked to him and would line up for hours so he could hear their confessions. The Curé d'Ars, as he was known, would spend up to 16 hours a day in the confessional in the summer. Of course, there are many other saints called John, which in Hebrew means "Yahweh is gracious."
