Blane, celebrated on August 11
This
6th-century Scottish saint spent 7 years of his life in Ireland studying to become a monk. When he returned home to Scotland, he became a missionary and eventually became a bishop. Tradition has it that he performed miracles. This Celtic name means "slender," although the saint was also known as Blaan, which means "yellow."
