St. Maximilian, celebrated on August 14
Maximilian Kolbe was the well-loved Franciscan who sacrificed his life for another prisoner in the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland, all while giving comfort to other prisoners condemned to die with him. He was described by Pope John Paul II as a "martyr of charity." With a name that means "greatest," your little Max may take inspiration from this great saint.
