St. Roch, celebrated on August 16
Certainly a more unusual name, pronounced Rock, but one given to a popular French saint to whom many miracles have been attributed. He could have had a privileged life governing the city of Montpelier in France, but chose to go on a pilgrimage to Rome, where he ministered to those sick from the plague. Once back in his native Montpelier, he was arrested for espionage and died in prison, never revealing his true identity.
