Basketball
The NBA may never have existed had it not been for a Canadian phys-ed instructor and theology graduate, Dr. James Naismith. A native of Ontario, Naismith was living in Springfield, Massachusetts, when he sought to find a game that could be played indoors during the cold winter months. From there basketball was born, and millions of people have been shooting hoops ever since.
