Begin preparing the children during your pregnancy
Don't wait for the baby to be born to prepare the brothers and sisters for the big arrival! Suggest that the children talk to the baby and show them pictures from the ultrasounds. You can also bring up memories of when you were expecting their birth and the joy that their arrival brought. Ask your children to help you prepare the baby's room, choose the baby clothes (a chance to show them what they used to wear when they were little), etc. Books are an excellent source of support, especially for children under three, when explaining the arrival of a newborn baby at home.
