Pre-wedding goose
While we're familiar with a pre-wedding dinner, in the past the groom would go to his future in-laws' house to eat roast goose. Once the meal was over, the wedding arrangement was considered a done deal, with no way for the groom to get out of his impending nuptials. This is where the expression "his goose is cooked" comes from.
