Firefighters - St. Florian
After refusing to execute Christians during the Diocletian persecutions, this Roman soldier, who led fire brigades, faced execution by fire. Unfazed by his impending death, he goaded the executioner to light the fire saying: "If you do, I will climb to heaven on the flames." As a result he was scourged and drowned instead. Such bravery makes him a perfect patron saint for firefighters.
