Simple
On his return from Egypt, Joseph does not entirely trust what Herod's son might do to the Child Jesus, so he opts for a simple and unnoticed life in a small village, Nazareth. For the Jews, Galilee was not a prestigious place: they say that "no prophet comes out of Galilee" (Jn 7:52). And Nathanael asked Jesus, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” (Jn 1:46). St. Joseph lives in simplicity in order to focus on what is important: that the Messiah may fulfill his redemptive mission.
