Exercises authority
We know from the Gospel of St. Luke that, after the event at the Temple in Jerusalem (the child was lost and finally found), the Holy Family returned home and Jesus "lived subject to them" (Lk 2:51). St. Joseph exercises authority knowing that he’s acting as father to God himself. And the results are then given in the Gospel itself: "Jesus increased in wisdom and in years, and in divine and human favor." (Lk 2:52).
