St. Catherine of Siena - fostering peace
This 14th-century Doctor of the Church used her charisma and diplomacy to iron out political and religious differences at a time when a woman's voice was rarely heard outside of the home. The peace-loving lay member of the Dominican Order, who always put others first, died at the young age of 33 from the fatigue of all the penances she took on.
