Clean or Pure Thursday
While Holy Thursday is seen as a day for the cleansing of the soul, St. Augustine spoke of the custom of thoroughly cleansing the body, through washing, shaving, and bathing. This is backed up by early English Christians who traditionally called the day "Shere Thursday" meaning "sheer, or clean," showing the importance of the cleaning rituals at a time when bathing was a bit of a luxury. You could teach your kids about the customs while giving them a big bath!
