Green Thursday
In Germany, Holy Thursday is called Gründonnerstag. The word grunen means "to mourn" which later became shortened to grün, which means "green." Some scholars believe that the green may also refer to the color of the vestments the clergy wore for Mass on Holy Thursday before the 13th century. Whatever the reason, green food is eaten on this day to mark the event, so it's a great way to get your kids to eat their veggies!
