St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara
Another saint from Kerala, Chavara was a priest and a social reformer who helped educational development, founded a wooden press, and encouraged retreats to help boost the spiritual lives of the people of his region. He also founded the Congregation of Mother of Carmel, the first Indian women's religious congregation. Many miracles occurred after his intercession, including curing an illness for St. Alphonsa.
