Venerable Henriette Diaz Delille (1813-1862)
Born in New Orleans, Delille was devoted to education and caring for the vulnerable from a young age. She founded a congregation called the Sisters of the Presentation. With other Creole women she educated children and adults both enslaved and free, and created the first Catholic home for the elderly. When their order was formally recognized, it became the Sisters of the Holy Family, which continues caring for and educating others today.
