Share your past
Kids are naturally curious and love to imagine what their parents were like at the same age. So tell them how life was for you as a teen -- the good and the bad times. Explain how you responded to things when you made mistakes, how you repaired them (if you did), and how you learned from them. Remember, it will reassure your child if they can see they're not the only ones finding it difficult sometimes.
