A parental blessing
Before going to church, the couple's union is blessed by the parents. The couple kneels while the mother-of-the-bride blesses them and sprinkles them with holy water. They make the sign of the cross and are given a crucifix to kiss. The father-of-the-bride and the groom's parents often give their blessing, too.
