Holy Stairs

Holy Week, particularly Good Friday, is also an excellent time to prayerfully climb the Sancta Sanctorum, or the Holy Stairs, located near the Basilica of St. John Lateran. The wood panels covering the stairs are being removed for the first time in 300 years, exposing the marble stairs that, according to tradition, Jesus climbed when Pontius Pilate handed Him over to be crucified.
