Dorothy Day, born on November 8, 1897, was an American journalist and social activist, and co-founder of the Catholic Worker Movement and the Catholic Worker newspaper. She was a tireless campaigner for the poor, the fair treatment of workers, and and advocate of non-violence, in politics and in war.
