Rome
Donated by the Catholic organization Fondazione Silvana Paolini Angelucci Onlus to the city of Rome in 2011, this statue was placed outside Rome's main train station as a sign of welcome and protection. The open mantle stands as a symbol of self-sacrifice and dedication to others. The statue was inspired by an old photo in which the pope wrapped a child in a mantle.
