Czestochowa, Poland
This 42-meter-high statue of Pope John Paul II was built in 2013 in southern Poland, in a city that hosts one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Poland, the Jasna Gora monastery. It was built in white fiberglass thanks to funding by Leszek Lyson, a local man who paid tribute to John Paul II for saving his son from drowning.
