Basilica of San Marcello al Corso. In 1522, the miraculous crucifix freed Rome from the plague. It was carried in procession through the city for 16 days in a row; as the procession passed, the plague receded, until it ceased completely upon the procession’s arrival at St. Peter’s. The basilica of San Marcello al Corso belongs to “Patrimonio del Fondo Edifici di Culto - Ministero dell’Interno.”
