The Christmas Chronicles (PG)
All those Santas at the malls and standing in front of the grocery stores ringing bells? Frauds. No one’s ever seen Santa Claus, and young Kate Pierce aims to be the very first. Turns out, he looks a little like Kurt Russell. This Netflix original film isn’t perfect by any means. You’ll hear some mild profanity (and an incomplete s-word) and see some bad behavior. And while there’s a lot of talk about the “Christmas Spirit” we don’t hear much about the real reason for the season. But The Christmas Chronicles — arguably Netflix’s highest profile holiday release this year -- is a story of emotional repair, redemption, and the importance of family. And we should be honest: Kurt Russell makes a pretty good St. Nick.
