The Princess Switch (PG)
Former Disney princess Vanessa Hudgens plays a real fake princess here. Or, at least, as Lady Margaret, a princess in the making. She’s due to marry into the royal family of the country of Belgravia, but she’d sure like a break from all the glitz and glamour before she ties the golden knot. And it seems like Stacy, a visiting brusque baker from America (also played by Hudgens), may offer a few days of respite — if the two switch places, that is. This holiday film offers a new twist on Mark Twain’s famous story The Prince and the Pauper, along with plenty of heartfelt lessons about self-discovery and helping others. And while it comes with a few minor issues here and there, this mostly encouraging tale may charm a princess or two in your family.
