Dresden, Germany
The first evidence of something close to a Christmas market in Dresden, a town in the eastern German state of Saxony, dates back to 1434, making it one of the oldest ones in Germany. Today, the city has as many as seven Christmas markets scattered around town, featuring traditional Saxon crafts, a Ferris wheel and traditional puppet theater shows. No wonder Dresden is known as Germany’s “Christmas capital.”
