The incredible papers that gave us permission to do this thing.

As if a sign of things to come, thorn bushes are pervasive around the baptism site.

The Jordan River approaching the baptism site.

Looking around at the very place where Jesus had walked.

The river is dammed up just as it enters the site for work that was being done.

The GoPro Karma that I never expected to be here, just before lift-off.

What it looks like in the controller view.

Lift-off. Facing the Church of St. John the Baptist, near the river.

Navigating carefully to the river ...

You can see the river, which forms the border between Israel and Jordan.

The view as a flock of doves passes beneath the drone ... which is terrifying.

Now to navigate to the actual site.

To the left is one of the ancient pools.

The garden near the Russian Orthodox Pilgrimage house. I was heading the wrong way ...

Time to follow the river ...

And the site came into view.

Moving closer ...

And closer ...

And there ...

No water, unfortunately, but that's okay.

It's still the place where Jesus was baptized, in Bethany-beyond-the-Jordan.

Heading back ...
