The cloister of the Convent of San Marco in Florence
In 1436, when the artist and Dominican friar Fra Angelico moved to the newly constructed convent of San Marco in Florence, he was commissioned by rich and powerful Cosimo de’ Medici, who had his own cell there, to decorate the convent.
