Shrine of Our Lady Virgin of the Poor, South Pittsburg, Tennessee
This tiny rustic shrine, built under the direction of a Benedictine monk, is a hidden gem in rural Tennessee. It pays homage to the apparitions of Our Lady in Banneaux and is an replica of the Shrine in Belgium, where 11-year-old Mariette Beco saw the Virgin Mary appear eight times in 1933. While Mass is not regularly said at this small, mountain chapel, there are weekly Marian devotions during the spring, summer, and early fall.
