Venerable Eileen O'Connor
This woman suffered a paralyzing break in her spine at the age of 3, and lived a short life in constant pain. But this did not cripple her zeal for the Lord and her neighbor. Venerable Caroline Chisholm
This woman had to fight plenty of adversity, but she just kept on going. She was able to help thousands and thousands of immigrants to Australia, particularly young women. We ask her to pray for the land she served. Read more about her here.
Our Lady of Good Help
Finally, let us call on Our Lady of Good Help. This apparition of Our Lady is not linked to Australia; in fact, it is the only approved apparition of the Virgin in the United States. However, this is a particularly fitting invocation of Mary for this cause, since the apparition occurred in the midst of the USA's deadliest wildfire, with an estimated 2,500 victims. A million acres were scorched, but the shrine to Our Lady, in the midst of it, was untouched. Read more here.
