Pancakes
If you didn't find many of the traditional New Orleans dishes appealing, another dish to add to the stack is pancakes. While these fluffy golden-brown syrup soakers are good for eating all throughout Lent (and a must for Mardi Gras in England, where the day is called Pancake Tuesday), the folks down in New Orleans love them this time of year. Just make sure you get real maple syrup and not that high-fructose corn syrup.
