Old library at the University of Salamanca
The old library, dating to the the 15th century, featured on its ceiling "Cielo de Salamanca," a mural attributed to Fernando Gallego. During the library’s reconstruction in the 18th century, most of the painting collapsed, but a portion remained hidden for nearly 200 years behind the ceiling of the new structure. It has since been restored and returned to the university's museum. The library holds more than 160,000 volumes.
