CADOUIN ABBEY
Founded in 1115 by Géraud de Salles, the abbey quickly developed to become a powerful monastery and a prestigious shrine of pilgrimage thanks to a relic: the Holy Shroud of Cadouin. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a stop on the road to Santiago de Compostela, the Cistercian abbey of Cadouin is a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture in Périgord.
