St. Gemma Galgani
Toward the end of her short life in Tuscany, Italy, Gemma Galgani bore the stigmata, the wounds of Christ. She had mystical experiences, including conversations with Jesus, Mary, and her guardian angel. Her spiritual director had her write a diary chronicling these experiences. The document is on display in the Monastery of the Passionist Priests, next to the Basilica of Sts. John and Paul in Rome. Visitors can see burn marks on some of the pages. Passionist Fr. Cristiano Massimo Parisi told Rome Reports that “it is said that this diary was stolen from Gemma by the devil, who tried to burn the diary.”
