SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF FRESNEAU, MARSANNE (DRÔME)
The shrine of Our Lady of Fresneau is hidden in the heart of the forest of Marsanne in Drôme. Nearby, a fountain recalls the history of the place. Tradition says that a young blind girl, who was accompanying her stonecutter father, heard the voice of the Virgin Mary telling her, "Build me a chapel in this place and you will have sight." Her father, who believed her, built a small oratory. Marie-Anne then bathed her eyes in the fountain and recovered her sight. Since then, the shrine has welcomed many pilgrims and many come to fill containers with fresh water. In September, large pilgrimages are organized at the shrine.
