The invaders of 1066 were prolific builders who left a legacy of over 7,000 beautiful churches.

St. John's Chapel in the Tower of London is one of the most perfectly preserved examples of Norman architecture, from around 1080.
The chapel was an integral part of the interior of the Tower of London. Its forbidding Norman exterior has been softened over the years.
Durham Cathedral, started in 1093, is the most complete Norman cathedral still standing in England.
The cathedral continues to dominate Durham like a Norman castle.

Gloucester Cathedral was used as a Gothic backdrop for Harry Potter but retains many Norman features as well.
