Know as the “Dogist,” this photographer has found meaning in capturing man’s best friendsHe’s only been doing this for two years, but taking photos of dogs in New York City has become a kind of spiritual experience for Elias Weiss Friedman. Known as the “Dogist,” the photographer and author has 1.7 million followers on Twitter (@thedogist). In this short documentary by E. J. McLeavey-Fisher, we get a peek into Friedman’s life as he roams the neighborhoods and parks of the Big Apple looking for dogs and their owners. Although he doesn’t have a dog (or a family) of his own, Friedman’s work has been an antidote to some of the loneliness and isolation he often feels, and he finds joy and humor in the images he creates.
