So much has changed, yet so much remains the same.This split-screen video showing a New York City of the past alongside footage from the  present day shows us how much things have changed in the last 80 years. The video, produced by The New Yorker, also serves to show us that the spirit that animated the city decades ago still exists today.

Case in point: New York drivers, it turns out, were always aggressive — driving across the Brooklyn Bridge was as much a white-knuckle affair in the days of the Packard as it is today. Among the changes: Wow, people really jay-walked back then!
