Boyfriend makes sure he includes his girlfriend’s sister with Down syndrome in on the big eventWill Seaton from Indiana broke many hearts, including ours, when he went down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend Ashley Schaus in March last year. It wasn’t because of the location — although we do love a field of flowers — or the beautiful ring produced; it was quite simply the level of love and thoughtfulness he showed that would have any girl saying “yes” at the drop of a hat.
When the couple started dating back in 2010, Ashley made it very clear to Seaton that there would have to be another woman in his life, her sister Hannah who has Down syndrome and diabetes. The inseparable sisters were in fact a “package deal”. This wasn’t an issue for Seaton who was happy to share virtually all of their dates with younger sister Hannah.
So when it came time to propose Seaton had two rings in his pocket. He went down on one knee and offered the first to Hannah, asking her to be his “best friend forever.” Big sister Ashley looked on with delight explaining to Fox 5: “It was the sweetest moment in my whole life watching Hannah be so happy and feeling so special.”
The protective older sister added: “We may not know what the future will hold for Hannah, and I hope that someday she finds a sweet boy, but for now, I am so thankful she got to enjoy that moment that every girl dreams about.” Naturally when it came to the wedding proposal, a sobbing Ashley said “yes.”
We can’t wait to hear more about the wedding, which is due to take place in October, where Hannah will be an integral part of the celebrations, with Ashley recounting how she’s “practically one-third of the wedding.” Seaton is planning on exchanging “best friend” vows with Hannah and the pair is even planning a “best friend” first dance.
While we can’t help but smile at the sisters’ beaming faces, we can only marvel that when Ashley found her “one” he was generous and loving enough to make sure he had enough love for two.
