This texting and driving video could save a life — including yours (VIDEO)

So South Africa recently launched the #Itcanwaitcampaign, reminding us that “No call or text is worth your life.” Hopefully the video will appeal to the younger generation by relying on humor, as who can resist sharing a bit of fun now and then?

The short video (to keep the attention span of our multi-tasking teens) starts off with people walking in the street while texting. With comical music accompanying them on their journeys, amusingly (and we imagine sometimes painfully), they have a little mishap; banging into people, doors, and falling into water. It all seems a bit of light-hearted fun ending with the message: “You can’t even text and walk” with the crashing reality (quite literally) of what happens when you text and drive…

“So why do you text and drive?”

By sharing with our loved ones, let’s hope this powerful campaign works in driving the message home to our vulnerable teens and young adults, as well as the older generations who can’t resist replying to the odd work email: Keep your eyes on the road!
