Alexandra isn’t even a year old when she is diagnosed with an incurable tumor. At the age of 4, she decides to set up a lemonade stand to raise money for research. It’s a sweet, cute idea—a bit bizarre—but why not humor her? The story goes viral: Thousands of dollars of donations arrive from around the US. When Alex is 8 years old, the medical treatments cease to work. When she set up her lemonade stand that year, she manages to raise 1 million dollars. She dies 2 weeks later.
