If you are distracted during times of meditation, try this prayer. Are you ever distracted during prayer?

If you are, you are not alone! Distracting thoughts during prayer are a common occurrence. While there are a variety of methods to try, one way is to simply pray to God, asking him to help you stay focused.

Here is a prayer from the Golden Manual that is for this aim and can serve as an opening prayer to any time of meditation.

Grant me grace to fix my mind on you, Jesus, especially in the time of prayer, when I aspire to converse directly with you.

Control the wanderings of my mind and the affections of my heart; repress the power of my spiritual enemies, who could then draw off my mind from heavenly things, to thoughts and imaginations of vanity. O beloved of my soul, absorb all my thoughts here, that I may become worthy to behold you for evermore face to face in your glory.
